MJ's Interview for RomanceNovel.tv

Romancenovel.tv comes for a visit

Like a lot of writers, I’m camera-shy and prefer lurking behind the scenes.  (And, like other writers, I’ve developed an extrovert persona that I can maintain for about two hours when I give a talk or do a book signing. <g> )

Nonetheless, when romancenovel.tv contacted me to see if I was willing to be filmed for a new website launching on Valentine’s Day 2007, I was too intrigued to refuse.  We set up a date in January for them to drive down from the New York area for the shoot, and it was surprisingly fun, even for someone who would rather be lurking than on center stage.

The film shot that day will be divided into short bits to show on romancenovel.tv   Visit RomanceNovel.tv and check out the interviews.  I hope you enjoy them!

Mary Jo & Grady the Gray Guy

Make up session

I’ve worked with photographers and make-up artists and other production people in my graphic design days, and I could tell these folks were real pros.  Really nice, too.  The make-up artist was movie star attractive as well as very patient.  We talked about cats and kids.

rntv cameramen

The crew included a cameraman and a sound man.

Sound is really important for this, since a writer’s words are more important than her image!

Deer outside

Deer thrive in suburban woods and I see the local herd with some regularity, but this is the first time I saw two of the males locking antlers!  Actually, I didn’t see them in real time, only this picture which the photographer managed to catch as the herd ambled by.

birds

This feeder hangs just outside my dining room window.  I love watching the birds (and the greedy squirrels.)  The cats love watching, too.  For them, it’s the feline version of MTV. <g>

MJ & Grady

Here I am with Grady on the chair and a half, recovering from the main shoot.

Grady

Here’s a close-up of Grady, who is much happier on center stage than I am!  I locked him up for most of the shoot so he couldn’t get in the way. Occasionally we’d hear a piteous little cry from the upstairs bathroom.  He came roaring down into the middle of things as soon as I let him loose.  Lacey, my shy little girl cat, spent the whole time in her closet, emerging as soon as the crew left.  <g>

Here’s an outside shot behind the house.
