May 2002

Third and last of the Bride Trilogy that includes The Wild Child and The China Bride, The Bartered Bride tells the story of Gavin Elliott, the Scottish-American merchant prince first introduced in The China Bride.  This book is good news for those of you who’ve asked for a story about Amy, the daughter of Catherine Melbourne in Shattered Rainbows.  Amy is the heroine of The Bartered Bride—but she’s had a name change.  When she reached the age of sixteen, she decided she didn’t feel like an Amy anymore, so now she goes by her middle name of Alexandra, Alex for short.

Other Historicals

Uncommon Vows

My one medieval, I think of this book as my "subversion of the captivity fantasy." An intense, God-haunted warrior becomes obsessed by ethereal Meriel, a free-spirited young woman who literally prefers death to captivity. Laura Kinsale said, "A triumph--combines the romance of Judith McNaught with the historical skill of Roberta Gellis." (RWA Golden Choice finalist for Best Romance of the Year, New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Award for Best Historical.) Onyx, 4/91

Dearly Beloved

My first Regency historical, this is the story of Gervase Brandelin, a man haunted by his past, and Diana Lindsay, the beautiful, mysterious woman who holds the key to his soul. Romantic Times: "Wonderfully crafted, articulate and perceptive, sets a new standard of excellence for historical romance. One of the best books of this or any other year."
